looking into the future.

These past few weeks in my ad. account management class, two fellow classmates and I have been researching and analyzing Starbucks and it’s music.  What I found especially interesting is the fact that Starbucks has taken extreme measures to return to it’s heritage and personal coffee shop feeling by reevaluating the branding strategy, closing hundreds of stores, retraining employees AND revamping the music.  I was curious about this, so I went to Starbucks a few times over the course of the case study to take in what I could and learn about the current music of Starbucks.  After taking it all in, What surprised the most was how the music at Starbucks seems to be represent more mainstream artists, edging away from local behind-the-scene artists as well as the incorporation of cutting edge technology which includes the iTunes Wi-Fi music… It’s just seemed interesting to me that Starbucks is working towards returning to it’s heritage by representing a traditional local coffee house; however, is featuring mainstream artists and sponsoring modern day technology…Is this at all contradictory? Counteractive? Beneficial to the Starbucks brand?

the writing on my hands

I was stumbling today, found this image and had to laugh at myself because frequently my hand looks like this. Granted, the notes I write on my hand aren’t love notes; however, more often than not, I find my to-do list on my right hand rather than on a piece of paper. I must say, although it might not be the healthiest idea, it has been quite the conversation starter on numerous occasions…
